What is Fistula?
An abnormal connection between any two body parts is known as fistula. In proctology, fistula or anal fistula is the small tunnel like connection between anal canal and skin near anus. People with anal abscess developed the symptoms of anal fistula. To recover from anal fistula and to reduce the chances of any infection, treatment of fistula is very important. External fistula is easy to examine whereas internal fistula examination can be more challenging. Various tools are used to determine the depth and location of the fistula. Fistula probe can be inserted through fistula whereas Anoscope helps to view the anal canal. Still to examine Fistula more specifically, doctors may prescribe Ultrasound or MRI.
