What is Hysterectomy?
The surgical removal of the uterus from a woman’s body is known as Hysterectomy. After Hysterectomy, a woman can’t be pregnant again. A Hysterectomy can be partial or complete. Hysterectomy may include removal of other female reproductive organs like ovaries, fallopian tube, uterus etc.

Diagnosis
Before performing Hysterectomy pelvic examination, pap smear, and a thorough diagnosis need to be performed. Following tests are also required to be conducted before surgery:
Cervical cytology- To detect the presence of abnormal cervical cells
Endometrial biopsy- To detect abnormal cells in the uterine lining
Pelvic ultrasound- To detect the size of uterine fibroids, endometrial polyps or ovarian cysts
